We have been very busy in HMS Talent getting familiar with Mog’s Christmas Calamity and other stories about Mog.
We have made our book corner into a Christmas living room and have a picture of Mog and her family above the fireplace. By the end of the week we are hoping to have completed our Mog stories and be sharing them with the Year R children. We hope you like our book corner!!
Year 1 came back from assembly and the classroom was a mess!!! Mog the Cat decided to come and help with our wintery book corner and destroyed it!! We were very lucky that she apologised in a blog to us and we have forgiven her. Hopefully she will come and see us in our classroom and make friends with us soon!!
Today we have started to discuss and write about what Mog is like and how clumsy she is. We have come up with some beautiful words to describe her.
Sorry it has taken a while to load the pictures from our trip. The children had a wonderful time getting hands on with all the various activities. However, the highlight of the day was the Planetarium where the children got to watch ‘The Secret of the Cardboard Rocket.’ It was truly a wonderful day and you should be extremely proud of your children as their behaviour was impeccable.
Well we have started!!! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated their empty milk bottles. So far we have used 94 bottles and we are only on our 4th tier!!! We still have a long way to go although we are enjoying our problem solving and working out how to make the structure strong. We have also used our maths skills to work out how many bottle we needed for each level.
Check back soon to see our progress. We are hoping to have our igloo built over the next couple of weeks so we can start seeing what life was like for the eskimos when they went on their hunting trips.
We have each had a turn at placing bottles on the igloo and we are very excited watching it grow. Please talk to your children at home about what they are doing as we will be writing instructions shortly about how to build an igloo.
We sat in a circle and decided how we were going to start our igloo and make it into a circle. We all agreed we needed to have a base to work on and place our milk bottles on there.
Thank you to everyone who came to our Art Sale. The children had a wonderful time and we raised £51 for the Syrian Refugees.
The children are very talented at Art and have really enjoyed showcasing what they can do. Thank you again to everyone who supported us and helped us to raise such a fantastic amount of money!!!
The children have had a great time with our Space topic and today they have created their own Space vehicles. They used junk modelling and created some amazing moon buggies that could have been used by Neil Armstrong!! We made quite a mess but had lots of fun in the process.
The class are very excited to be finishing off the topic at the Winchester Science Museum next week. Look out for another blog showing the fun they have when we go.
Within our around the world day we had a fruit banquet. Some of the fruit we had heard and had before, however some of the other fruit was very strange to us! Most of us tried all the fruit (some fruit we didn’t like at all!) Miss Dugan was very impressed by how we got stuck straight in…even with the Lychees!
We had such fun on our themed Around the world day. It was a perfect end to our topic. Miss Dugan was amazed by all our wonderful costumes and the effort we made. Can you tell by our costumes which country we have come as?
We had great fun visiting Spain this week! We of course had a few experts that loved telling us all the facts that they knew! We spoke about what Spain is famous for (we already knew the football teams!). We spoke about Bull fighting and then we had such fun becoming Matadors and Bulls outside. Take a look at our Spain afternoon!
Miss Dugan and Mrs Osman played a horrible trick on us when we were finding out our new Year 2 teacher! We all thought it was Miss Dugan but she confused us and said we had someone new called Mrs Mason. We were very puzzled when we saw ‘Mrs Mason’ walk into the room and went very quiet! Finally we realised it was Mrs Osman wearing a wig, she then revealed to us that it was in fact Miss Dugan!
Look at our faces!
