A great start to the week for me celebrating our year 4 athletics team who won aa bronze medal in an inter schools event held at Henry Cort last Friday. This was the first athletics medal ever won by the school and all the children came in proudly wearing them!!!
It was a pleasure and a privilege to accompany our Apple distinguished educator, Mr Jon Audain for an inspiring summit conference in one of the most beautiful buildings in the world, The Renaissance St Pancras Hotel.
I particularly enjoyed the key note speech by John LLoyd, the producer of QI (my sons favourite programme) and a professor of ignorance, truly!!
He asked two big questions………….
Why are we here and what are we going to do about it?
What do you think!!!???
Just read the blog of HMS ASTUTE and SO proud of our youngsters who presented there. An awesome experience for them. Check it out!
Young Governors 2011/12
Only a couple of days after New Years Eve we found ourselves back in the school hall for the start of 2012-an even number as opposed to odd ( I prefer even numbers!) and one that promises to be yet another exciting ,eventful and productive year in the life of the school.
My attempt to wake the school up in the first assembly back with a New Year rap worked in the main particularly with our year R class!
Already completed a full learning walk around the school and the climate for learning is as impressive as ever. Year 2 are doing a 2 week topic on Australia based around the fact that two brothers in the class are leaving for Australia next week.
Looking forward to the year 6 residential to Nethercott in 3 weeks time………..
Looking forward to working alongside the Assistant Heads in shaping the next stages of the learning journey for our school. LOADS of ideas swimming around in my Head and looking forward to September already!!!!
Year 6 completed maths paper B today which signalled the end of a stressful week for them as they completed their Key Stage 2 test’s. Fuelled by a cooked breakfast each day from Mrs Southworth the children did their absolute best and should be extremely proud of their achievements. I think there will be plenty of happy children when the results come in with many PB’S!!!!
Just hope this government learns to develop greater trust in the teaching staff by scrapping league tables and introducing teacher assessment at key stage 2 saving thousands on the paperwork involved in administering these tests!!!!
What a fantastic day we all had in school celebrating the Royal wedding. One of many highlights was the whole school lunch eaten outside and prepared and served by Denise our ‘wondercook’. Another memorable day had by all………..
Huge thanks to Fot’s for organising yet another fantastic event raising £400 for the school. Please look out for the next one and check out the pics on the website!
Currently reflecting on an utterly fantastic trip to Nethercott( check out the HMS Illustrious blog) and on what a great job Mr Howard did as Acting Head.
