We had a mission within Year 2 this week. We had to explore around the school and see what different animals and plants we could find. At first we predicted what we could find and then split up into groups. We were fantastic and looking in dark and muddy places to see what we could find!
We had a mysterious parcel delivered to our class! We were unsure what it was at first but after a lot of speculating we finally realised it was about the Victorians! We had great fun delving into all the goodies that were in the trunk. We enjoyed trying on the hats and found it amazing how things were so different. Take a look at our exploring…
We have been learning about different body shapes and how to use our body in different ways within PE. Within this week we had to pretend to be fire. We started off really small and then we grew bigger and bigger. We had to attach ourselves to other fires around. In the end we ended up as one big burning fire. We tried to move around as one and in different ways. It was lots of fun but very hard!
Within Literacy this week we have been learning and reciting different Autumn and Harvest poems. We have really enjoyed thinking of actions to go with the poems and have had lots of challenges against Miss Dugan to see who can say the poem the best!
We got into the Autumn feeling by collecting lots of Autumn things outside whilst listening to our Autumn poems.
We all had an amazing time on Grounds day clearing up the school. We are pretty sure that we were given the hardest part of the school, but that didn’t deter us in the slightest! With the amazing help of our mums and dads we did an amazing job! We were far better than Miss Dugan!
This week in Literacy, we have been learning all about poetry. We really enjoyed thinking of words that rhyme and even tried to put them into our own rhyming couplets. We have been really working on the pattern within a poem, so within small groups we chose a poem to learn. We had to recite it to the whole class! Take a look at our fantastic poems…
We have been introduced to measuring this week! Miss Dugan was very surprised that some of us knew what measuring was and could even mention centimetres! We loved exploring with a ruler and measuring lots of different objects in centimetres. We could even compare the objects, explaining which one was the longest and which one was the shortest!
We couldn’t believe it! Today our Year 2 classroom was ransacked by some Wild things whilst we were all in assembly! We came back to chairs tipped over, footprints out of the windows, hay and grass EVERYWHERE and even our books and other things thrown across the classroom. We had to go on a hunt to find any clues as to what these Wild things are! We searched all around the school and asked all the classes but no one else has seen them! We wanted to make sure that they didn’t come back so have designed our own Wild things to scare them away!
Take a look at our Wild Thing investigation!
Well well well… Here we go again! Another year, another adventure.
We have come back ready and raring to go and what better way to kick start Year 2 is with a jamming session with the Rock Steady band. We were so lucky to listen to them play and some of use even got to try out some of the instruments!
Ria was amazing on the drums, Charlie did a fab job on the keyboard and Ava and Will were rock stars on the Guitars!
Take a look at our very own rock concert!
